"Rose-colored Dance" is a remediation (produced by Noah Travis Phillips) of a site-specific installation of Butoh-inspired scrolls collaged with imagery (by Jennifer Lord). The original site-specific installation was realized for "The Passage of Light Can Be Bent", presented at Counterpath, in Denver, Colorado.
The video focuses on subtle and slow contemplative 'movement'. Movements are repeated over and over until they form a pattern within which mood mystically changes. One scroll's dance is vertical, the other horizontal. Within the video one layer of images scrolls horizontally and the other scrolls vertically. Collage is a traditional choreographic method of Butoh, and is used here as a means of creating complex spacial and symbolic arrangements. A minimal dance of imagery echoes the dark elegance of the original installation.
