As six renowned Movement Artists from the contemporary & street dance/art world prepared to come together to create an immersive live performance experience at The Ailey Citigroup Theater on April 8th, 2020 — "Red Between The Lines" — COVID 19 was silently spreading and laying the groundwork, worldwide, to deter our ability to congregate. As such, performances, tours, and scheduled creations by dancers, companies, and venues were cancelled, theirs included. In its place, each artist filmed a 1-minute site-specific piece and collaborated - virtually - on the following film. While each artist worked with adapting original concepts intended for the Ailey stage to their home environments, what emerges is their collective grapplings with life and art under quarantine — intrinsically woven into a tapestry and expression of our time — as well as a testament to the resiliency of the dance community as a whole.
