I am Raf Evangelista, a Filipino filmmaker with accolades for both industries of film, and advertising. I started pursuing my passion for cinema by writing and directing for intercollegiate film competitions in the Philippines. The majority of my early projects are experimental films. "Padayon," one of my works, was shown at the International Silent Film Festival Manila in 2017. As a student, I also gave talks and small classes about experimental filmmaking. One of which is a talk entitled "Xpress Xpe: A Workshop on Human Expression Through Experimental Filmmaking" by UP Cineastes' Studio. I began my apprenticeship under Jet Leyco, working with him on Andrew Leavold's "Matangtubig" and "The Last Pinoy Action King." My thesis film, "Apuhap (To Feel)," which I directed and wrote, won best short film at Sinag Maynila 2016.
My career in the film industry began as a script continuity supervisor for a number of different productions. My experience grew over time as I worked as a producer and assistant director on a variety of feature films, short films, and advertisements alongside renowned filmmakers such as Erik Matti, Jerold Tarrog, Khavn De La Cruz, and Paco Raterta. In 2019, I collaborated with EpicMedia to produce Tia Madré, a feature film for Cinema One Originals.
During the pandemic, I was appointed as a creative director for Rec•Create Studios, a media production company in the Philippines, where I write and direct explainer videos and online advertisements. In 2021, an episode of "A Drive For Two," a series I co-created for Rec•Create's YouTube channel in collaboration with Ford, won Best Reality TV in an online advertising awards ceremony hosted by Adobo Magazine.
Presently, I work as a freelance director, producer, and assistant director for film, advertising, music videos, and other visual contents
