The sound piece „Ports in Transition“ explores the acoustic landscapes of the Mediterranean area as a
transitory non-place. A central reference point is a field recording of ship horns at the port of Piraeus: for epiphany, the ships make their horn sound at the same time. During the production process, this
material is used for sampling, as signals for modular synthesizers, as well as an instruction manual for
alt-saxophone, bass clarinet, trumpet and flugelhorn.
The sound piece has been premiered at the "Movement 1920-2020" festival (Onassis Stegi, Athens) and is commissioned by the Goethe-Institut Athens and the Onassis Foundation.

In a performative live version of the sound piece the recipients are able to interactively correlate as accomplices of the performance and act as speakers. Equipped with an instruction manual and a walkie-talkie, they are able to send signals and become an active and shaping part of the performance.
The sound performance "Ports in Transition" is part of the exhibition "Radio-Activity" at Lenbachhaus Munich, curated by Stephanie Weber and Karin Althaus.
