An uncanny, low-fidelity contrast of abrasion and tranquil vagaries with an underlying theme of alienation. 

Portrait of a Sinking Reality is, at its core, is an intense mood piece. Incorporating the aesthetics of lost media and personal recording devices in tandem with artificial video glitching and limited stop motion animation to suggest a bizarre and unsettling atmosphere with a distinctly voyeuristic quality. The themes of alienation and isolation will be achieved through use of dark, empty spaces and enhanced through the aesthetic narrative of loneliness that is inherent to a lot of low-fidelity home video, particularly when humans are not present. 
The tone of the film relies on an oscillating contrast between noisy, abrasive segments and tranquil melancholia, both tied together by their overall desolation. 
The audio consists of semi-melodic ambience, field recording and harsh experimental noise to underpin both the intensity and the sad calm of the short.
