The series in based on two statements: the ambition of the city of Zürich to create a carbon negative city by reducing its annual CO2 emissions to one tonne per person and the study of the ETH Crowther lab saying that by planting a certain amount of trees, it could solve the global warming.
Starting from these two statements, an action plan has been drawn up comprising four steps; to compensate and absorbe the CO2 emissions by planting trees, to have more place to plant the needed trees by destroying the low densified areas, to reuse the material coming from the destruction to build new buildings on top of the existing buildings, to connect the natural reserves with wildlife corridors.
