This is a simple animation of the developing lung bud as it pushes into the side of the pleural sac. The sac itself has been sectioned in the coronal plane to show the interior of the sac, so that the viewer can see that the lung bud gets covered with one face of the pleura as it expands. The lung bud does not pierce the pleura, so the cavity remains intact, and the other surfaces of the pleural sac will develop on and become adherent to the costal wall, the diaphragm, the mediastinum, and form a dome below the neck.
