Taking cues from contemporary culture, this body of work pushes material, action
and consequence past their boundaries to create an absurd landscape. The installation
takes on the role of a simulation, occupying the space between truth and fiction: a
facsimile of a reality but one that overindulges in action and material. The work exists as
images of its originals– object and material lose function but maintain appearance,
lending to its simulated nature. Cast cement objects are used on the body in performances
presented on cement screens. These personal moments are broadcasted to an audience
faced with a physical proximity to the artist but a lack of intimacy and familiarity. The
objects and performances are housed in a constructed space of plastic grass and blue
painted walls, provoking a questioning in regard to the truthfulness of nature in
contemporary space.
