Five years ago, Lauren was preparing to embark on one of the first great adventures of her life: a solo backpacking trip to Asia. Her plan was to spend the summer on her own — traveling, exploring, and experiencing everything life had to throw at her. As it turned out, life would introduce her to the biggest adventure of all before she even stepped foot in Thailand.

The evening before her trip started, Lauren received a call from her sister, Shelen. Shelen said she met a man named Shaun that Lauren was destined to marry. She went on to say it was pertinent Lauren meet him before her trip. “Hell no!” - was Lauren’s immediate response. Yet somehow, against all the odds, Shelen persuaded her sister otherwise.

From the moment their eyes locked, they knew and it was love at first sight.

Neither Shaun nor Lauren expected the blind date to go well, let alone fall in love with each other! So it was bittersweet when their date came to an end. When it was time to say goodbye, Shaun asked if he could see Lauren again and meet her in Asia. She assumed he was joking and sarcastically agreed.

A month passed and they met in Hanoi, Vietnam for their second date. Shortly after, they traveled to Ha Long Bay, followed by Laos, and finally Northern Thailand. During their travels, there was never an awkward moment between the two. It felt as if they had been best friends all their life. Each day was an adventure as they explored Buddhist temples, ate the most delicious street food, played with elephants in the jungle, danced together in night markets, and swam in salty seas. All the while falling more and more in love.

Two years and many more adventures later, Lauren decided she wanted to take the untraditional route and propose to Shaun. After all, he was the one who took a chance and flew out to meet her in Asia. Lauren said proposing felt like the perfect way to show with action how much she loved him and thank him for always being her rock and for adding such immense joy to her life. So, Lauren spent over a year orchestrating the ultimate proposal evening and video.

When it came time to show the film and propose, Lauren recreated the blind date that started off this love story. With sweaty palms and a pounding heart she mustered all of her courage to ask Shaun, “will you marry me?” To her surprise, Shaun got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.

Their simultaneous proposal to each other was just another detail in this epic love story. Both said yes and so the adventure continues...
