Thunder strikes and Chani is scared. I’m trying to sleep but the sheets wave like the choppy sea. Chani cries under the bed. Chani stop, those cries anger the tide, don’t cry Chani. Lucas is asleep on the bed outside the room while I try to sleep. You can hear the cry between the barks that escapes from his dreams, don’t cry Chani.
