This video was filmed in West London during a Move into Wellbeing® class on 15 June 2019. Move into Wellbeing® is a charitable organisation founded five years ago. MiW provides weekly unique and effective dance and exercise classes for adults living with Parkinson's and with many other mobility restrictions. A number of their Trustees and original Committee Members are people living with Parkinson's. Donna Schoenherr, the Founder & Director of the charity, a former professional dancer, experienced the effects of Parkinson’s on a close family member for over 30 years and wanted to develop a programme of her own to offer the community. She collaborated with Ballet4Life Lead teacher Beatrice Ghezzi who developed a successful creative format and a series of exercises uses dynamics, rhythm, and dance- based movements. The MiW group has happily experienced first-hand, the benefits of music and movement on balance, co-ordination, confidence, mobility, and general wellbeing. They passionately continue to deliver their dance programme to the community and to witness positive changes for all involved. MiW also recently were awarded a prestigious Atul Pathak Community Award for their work.
“Nelken” choreography excerpt was at first very challenging due to the multi-tasking of the walking with the gestures and speech, but after careful guidance and practice the group embraced the process and felt the benefits on their overall co-ordination.
