Less than a year ago, I befriended a woman who happened to set up her lawn chair next to me at an outdoor jazz concert.
During our conversation, she asked me, "What brings you inner peace?"
I was stumped. I thought about coming up with the perfect answer, caring about what'd she think of me based on what I'd say. She shared with me that being by the water and being in her home with her plants brought her inner peace.
Months after that conversation, I kept scratching my head at that question. Her question motivated me to understand myself better since I'm easily influenced by others' opinions. With the guidance of powerful women and a support system that believe in me, I've come to understand what inner peace looks like for me.
Here is a fraction of days from the past year when I felt free to be me. I could only include so much, and making this video was a good exercise in practicing brevity.
I choose my happiness and peace of mind, always.
I choose to show up for myself so that I can show up for the movement around the world and in my local communities.
