New Client KayKon a rapper from east London making it big into the Grime scene with his new track Independence.

This was shot over 4-5 hours in just one location in East Ham, London, England. It was house in the middle of a renovation which gave it an almost arty look to work with, with scattered and chipped paint on walls and lack of furniture gave a nice space per room.

Most of the space and rooms where utilised with every different wall had a different colour. I used the YN360 (an RGB light) to hit the side of his face which would match the colour of the back drop i.e. the baby blue painted wall I would set the RGB light to blue making sure not to add movement outside of the wall as it was very small as were all walls. I was handheld throughout this video with some tripod shots in particular the shot where I needed to multiply KayKon as the background needed to remain consistent for that effect to work in post.

In terms of movements I would use a natural sliding effect and some almost dutch angle turns on or on the drop of the beat which gives the movements more life.

The garden was also used at 35mm and 18mm wide in the over grade fences look, which looked very American with the laundry on the line and the randomly planted palm tree which looked cool. I kept the aperture at F1.1 to keep the shallow depth of field throughout.

The shy was another one with interesting clouds and the passionate words of society and filmed from a low point upwards give that feel of statue and position of power to project a voice.

Slow-motion was used at 180FPS in particular when he is smoking which creates a cool effect with its slow release. 60FPS was also used to give it a more subtle slow-motion where the movement needs to happen within the cut I would want without it prolonging.

The shot with the wooden backdrop was the floor in one of the rooms, I felt it would be quite a unique shot, I added RGB lighting to match the different outfits minus one but overall for the traffic lighting in edit.

In the video I used a mix of dark vibes visuals which were low in saturation such as the shed and rain in the bedroom but then to be nicely mixed in the edit with the bold bright carefully picked colours. This give the video more dynamics and visual interest and appeal.
