By simplifying the field of water images, an interesting paradox happens.

For me video is a form of contemplation. While the camera records I sit with the subject, taking it in, looking for possibilities, not worrying if I will remember it or not. This allows me to absorb the moment in a deeper way that will be used later in the studio as a reflected poem (memory).

Messages / Nordic Voices continually shifts both visually and conceptually with the impression of natural light distortion using the surface of water as a support. The movement of ebb and flow embraces chaos and recognition. Patterns achieved by dancing light move naturally and at times suggest calligraphic shapes or figures shifting into visual metaphor of messages passing by. Back and forth, in and out, consciousness moves between recognition and the dreamlike state.

I worked with Nordic Voices, a Norwegian a cappella group to create a bridge between the minimal image and audience. Relatively few visual adjustments were needed for the adaptation of the audio track with the video verified by the syncopated rhythm shared by both. The idea of interpretation and connection within the collective consciousness is of deep interest to me and the members of Nordic Voices.
