Incase you're seeing this before seeing my progress video upload, this is my animation for project one.

This animation is reflecting on a childhood memory I share with my mother. When I was really young and would be feeling overstimulated, she would sit down with me and ask me to close my eyes with her. You know how when you look at something bright or vivid, and you shut your eyes; you can still kind of see that image? The colors are inverted, and the shapes move around and fade away, but when I was little my mom encouraged creativity, so we would talk about the "light shows" we could see behind our eyelids. We would do this often, and I think it helped me become the maker and creative I am today. It sounds a little crazy, I think, but it's something I still do now, when I'm feeling overwhelmed or uninspired. While most of what I see is sunspots, it's fun to watch them with closed eyes and imagine them as innocent little shapes, dancing and morphing. I wanted to put this short little montage together to share this exercise with others, incase it might end up helping someone else, too.
