Living body was a two-hours live performance piece which took place at Alexandra Park, on November the 18th.
The piece depicts a space of fluency and confined movement, where the human body and the natural environment become other than they already are. Becoming in movement is the key process of the whole piece, where human nature and mother nature challenge each other by performing together. The movement happening throughout the two hours of performance was free of thought and truly spontaneous, coming into being as naturally and genuinely as the lighting and the climate conditions were changing. Everything came together quite chaotic but still harmoniously, — the chaos that creates a rhythm.

Living body explores how free a body can be in a confined existence. This confinement approaches the social, the cultural, the spatial and the temporal, being depicted in the shape of a rectangle of soil in contrast with a wide parking space. A confined space that somehow, as time passes, becomes a space of surrealism and mystery, where the act of moving becomes another body itself, a body of movement, of freedom, of spontaneity, — a body of fluency that acts only as it exists by expressing nothing more than a present moment.
The performative piece comes into being as a celebration of the body weight with itself and the environment. Each time the sound produced by the bodies, — human body and nature body — reminds us of their weight, their factor of attraction and their fragilities. Elements such as the soil, the wind, the rain, the coldness and the leaves embody expressively the effect that the environment has on the body and vice versa.

There are repetitions and sequences that constantly happen during the piece. The dynamics of movement are diverse as the body inhales, breathes, walks, runs, touches itself and the environment, feels, senses, falls or simply stands. Each of these movements happen individually, yet still performing in this huge performative body where human nature and mother nature are compiled together and reborn as one single entity, — the Living Body.
