I was there. It was all that I knew and didnt know. I kept my distance for as long as I could and then it all started to slip. It was like I had forgotten the basics of the way things were put together and I cried out loud to my mother to teach me again and to hold me together but she was lost in the transparency of the layers that were folding onto themselves and then it started to set in. The flow. The movement of life beyond life. The spiral of interlacing planes that follow the patterns of the wind over the sand, over the water, over the hair of a loved one. It’s The motion that we all seek to mimic, where peace and serenity sit quietly. I knew it was time to let go, to belong in the current that beckoned and still I held on to the remnants of once and I cried out to my father who had taught me to believe in myself and I said “please, please I am not ready. My cells are still reminding me of who I was.” His voice was lost in the multitude of photons that floated by, all being pulled into beams of light traveling to the next thing. I called out to myself and I said. Who are you? Why were you given this life? Why are you observing this moment? Why are you hesitating and so determined not to go? I thought of my toes and my feet that had walked me across the world and back and I thought of my uterus that birthed three sons and I thought of my hair that had gotten caught in my mouth when I was flown from the car and I thought of my skull that held my thoughts that cracked slightly when my head hit the pavement, and I thought of my spine that was till intact and strong and my heart that beat everyday without condition, so loving and kind. As my thoughts whirled in and out my visions became more clear and a distinct smell entered the space that knocked me to the ground and flat on my back as the beeps crept into my ears and the voices of the others in the room met the beeps which met my ears. My eyes adjusted to the skin tone of bright lights behind my lids which I did not open and the breath from my mouth was a gasp that came as a surprise as I gulped in life and the will to live.
