A project I was on for almost a year with probably one of the most enjoyable animation teams I've ever worked with. So much to talk about on this, so this video will focus on animation only and a later video will focus on the tools I wrote during the project that really came in handy.
Animation wise, everything was keyframed, and getting to animate a giant snake was pretty cool. The tongue especially was fun and added a lot to the creep factor. I also wanted to get the lantern he bumps his head into swaying, so as a proof of concept I rigged it up and animated it. Come to find out, they cached an rendered it. A small touch but one I was proud of.
For the big fight sequence, in the movie it appears as a single long shot, but we broke it up between several animators. Keying the timewarp slo-mo was pretty tricky, but the end result looked cool.
