KB Chest-Loaded Hinge / Swing

The Chest Loaded Hinge is an exercise to help prep for the KB Swing. It helps teach how to keep the core engaged through the hinge to support the weight of the bell, while learning how to keep the shoulders from rounding.

Hold the bell by the horns while resting the bottom of the bell on the chest. Roll the shoulders back and down, keeping the lats engaged. Before starting the movement, engage the core.

Begin by unlocking the hips and pushing them behind you to hinge. Make sure to keep the chest above the hips. At the bottom of the hips, begin to fire the glutes and drive through the feet to return to standing.

This can be done as a regular hinge exercise, or can move on to practicing the hip drive needed for a full swing.
