Iran: Command Head Quarters of State Security Force in IRGC Bassij Base Targeted

On Sunday, defiant youth targeted the IRGC’s base in Tehran’s Jannat-Abad District.
In another development on Monday, defiant youth targeted the Command HQ of the State Security Force in Mashhad’s Malek-Abad Boulevard.
These two bases played an active role in the suppression of the November 2019 nationwide uprising and the massacre of the people and youth, killing and wounding hundreds of protesters.

Iraq Uprising: Protesters Take Control of Various Areas in Baghdad, Other Cities

On Saturday, Iraqi protesters in Najaf, attacked the office of Kata’ib Hezbollah, a militia group with close ties to Tehran, and set the site on fire. On Sunday, Iraqis set fire to large Qassem Soleimani billboards and also burned the office of the “al-Wafa movement,” another militia group linked to the mullahs’ regime.
Reports on Sunday night from the cities of Baghdad, Nasiriyah, Basrah, and others showed escalating clashes between protesters and security forces. Various reports claimed Iran-backed militia groups, such as the Popular Mobilization Forces, began opening fire and using live ammunition against protesters.

New Deputy Quds Commander Previously Sanctioned by US and EU for Rights Abuse

The newly appointed Deputy Commander of the Quds Force was sanctioned by the EU for his role in the suppression of protests and human rights violations in 2011. He has also been in the US Department of State’s sanctions list since 2007.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps appointed Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi as the Deputy-Commander of the Quds Force on Monday.
The 63-year-old former commander of the IRGC’s paramilitary branch, the Basij, was born in the central city of Isfahan. Hejazi headed the Basij in 1997 and was the deputy commander of the IRGC in 1999.
