The Investing in Women Code aimed at banks, VCs and Angel investors was developed as a result of the Alison Rose review in 2019 which identified the barriers that many women face in accessing finance.
The code looks at three main areas of action for finance providers: appointing a diversity champion for each organisation responsible for supporting good practice; collecting gender based data on investments and implementing good practice in how women founders are treated in approaching finance providers.
We brought together HM Treasury's Enterprise Policy Officer, Amy Ellington and signatories Sarah Turner, Angel Academe and Joseph Zipfel, SFC Capital, to outline what is involved by committing to the investing in women code; what the approach to data collection is and what practises they are adopting In their angel group as signatories.
