As you know COVID-19 has become a major health issue that the pastoral and administrative staff at Zion are
closely monitoring. Our top priority is the health and spiritual wellbeing of the members of our congregation
and those who utilize our facilities.
After lengthy discussion the senior staff at Zion has decided that the prudent action at this time is to suspend
physical Worship Services and use of the facilities for two weeks, beginning Friday, March 13th. This will
include the Mid-Week Lenten Meals and Worship Services. While this may seem to be an extreme measure,
we believe that it is of the utmost importance that we protect our members and anyone who attends
services and events at Zion from contracting the virus or unknowingly spreading it to others. After March
22nd we will reassess the situation and communicate any further closings. The church will undergo a deep
cleaning and sanitizing. All church and secular events held by any group will not be allowed during this
period.
We are ramping up our streaming capabilities, and should be able to offer a virtual Worship Service streamed
from our Sanctuary starting this Sunday. You will be able to view the live stream on our facebook page and
on Vimeo. There will also be a direct link to the live stream on the public front page of our website.
We want everyone to know that we are here for you and the office will be open during the week 9 a.m.-4
p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. -1p.m. on Friday to offer contact with Pastor Bob and Intern
Pastor Karl as well as the rest of the staff. The office can be reached via telephone at 301-371-6500 during
office hours.
Another priority is the ongoing operations of Zion and our ministries. To support our ongoing ministries, we
will be available to accept your offering at the top of the ramp during office hours, you can use the postal
service to mail in your offering, or you can give online using the Give Plus mobile solution or on our web site
at Give Now
It is vitally important to keep communication lines open and to practice compassion regularly. Be sure to visit
our website zionmiddletown.org or our Facebook Page: Zion Lutheran Church for continual updates.
While we may have to distance ourselves socially, no one should feel isolated. Speak with one another. Call,
text or email those who are on your heart. Pray for your church and members of the congregation. If you
are concerned about someone in particular, please call the church office or email one of the pastors.
If you are not in a high risk group and are wondering how you can help stay connected and care for your
fellow members please contact the church office: [email protected] to find ways to help.
