This 2-hour webinar will explore some of the history of Indian Day Schools in Canada, leading up to the recent Class Action for Survivors of Indian Day Schools. Our presenters will be Gloria Cardinal, Legal Advocate/Legal Assistant of the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, and Jaden Bourque, Legal Advocate of the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic.
The presenters will cover a brief history of Indian Day Schools in Canada, followed by an exploration of the Claim form that survivors need to complete. We will make some important comments about the direction that the Narrative should take when the form is being filled out. We will guide you through the Settlement Agreement: Schedule C, Sec. 44, which lays out the DAMAGES experienced by the Survivor Class. We will also give instructions for making an ATIP request, and a Freedom of Information request.
This will be a practical guide for helping clients fill out the Indian Day School form.
This webinar is organized in collaboration with the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic. Participants in this webinar may claim up to 2 hours of CPD with LSBC, including 2 hours of practice management credit.
