The University of Memphis volleyball team played Toledo at 10am on Friday, September 20, 2019. Students and teachers from the University of Memphis campus school flooded the stands, cheering the Tigers on. The Tiger mascot had a blast dancing and greeting all of the kids. Players on the Memphis team all threw balls into the crowd for the children to catch. After, they waved their pom-poms and jumped eagerly as the game began. Memphis’ volleyball team recorded the best start in the program’s history. They are 11-0, which surpassed the 2001 team’s record, 10-0. During halftime, beach balls were thrown into the crowd and the Memphis Tiger played musical chairs white four of the children. As an overview of the game, Sabrina Bianco logged her eighth career double-double and her fourth as a Tiger. Gigi Crescenzo had a very solid performance. She had a total of nine kills, nine digs and four total blocks. She also had no reception errors in 30 attempts. Kaitlyn Gehler recorded 17 digs versus Toledo.Memphis won the match over Toledo by scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-19 and 25-21. The win was the Tigers' second of the day, as they defeated North Alabama 3-0 in earlier action. With the setback, Toledo dropped to 6-5.
