It’s 1974 and the river cruise boat ‘France’ is sailing along the Rhine from Dusseldorf to Basel.
On the boat were Ugo La Pietra, Guido Arra, Gianni Pettena and Franco Vaccari from the so.-called ‘Global Tools’ counter-school, an experience that marked the 1973-75 period and was characterised by the participation of artists, architects and designers like Sottsass, Mendini, Branzi. Fabro, Vaccari..and many more..
This beautiful booklet by Vaccari takes the cue from a very simple matter of fact: there were no stewed or dried plums, so how were they supposed to maintain a regular bowel movement while they were sitting all day, simply looking at the landscape slowly changing in front of them?
