Our collaborative video was inspired by the formative works of Wassily Kandinsky, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Josef Albers, and Gunta Stolzl. Their use of primary colors, basic shapes, and bold lines provide a morsel of the Bauhaus Movement's aesthetic.
The work introduces the viewer to the Bauhaus style with a tribute to Wassily Kandinsky's, Several Circles. The dancing shapes and bright colors overlaying a dark background transition to a scene based off of A19 by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy as an interplay of opacity, line, and circles, creating an abstraction of shapes and contrasts. The following scene emerges as translucent shapes form a new palette as they fall into place as a nod to Josef Alber's, Interaction of Color. Our finale honors the transformative textile work of Gunta Stolzl through a blossoming display of dazzling colors, jutting columns, and bold flowing motion.
The motion designers of Form Follows Function are Ellie Johnson, Steve Grime, Trenton Gruenhagen, and Sonja Scheller. Description by Steve Grime.
