Flossing Time is alluding to the female body and the imprint of time on it. The time is realized as both an aging body of the character and the grief on the deceased relative. In the performance, the character faces her body and at the same time transforms herself into a deceased relative. This transformation allows her to feel almost inseparable proximity to the relative and at the same time to mourn and accept her the passing.
The flossing in the video is a metaphor of everyday routine that helps to live through these experiences, contain and accept them...The repetitive action that performed over again.
Using her cinematography, Yi captures Halfin’s movements and spirits, and constructs the visual narrative in the video. While the video is shot in the existing sites, the performer's uncharacteristically behaviors add surreal aspects to the video work and alienation for audience to contemplate on everyday life routines.
