Meet Dave and Methuen, two born-and-bred farmers harvesting pure sunshine. Their north western NSW company, Meralli Solar, designs and builds small scale industrial solar farms. Their German-derived building and design technology makes for unparalleled flexibility and efficiency. In terms of input resources, costs and time, they can build at a rate of 1Megawatt per week and they like to joke that the only cement they use is in the fencing posts around each solar farm. They've now built solar farms for clients throughout NSW and in Queensland and South Australia. The 'farms' are generating power for industrial agricultural use and as feed-in for the electricity grid. Afterglow has been documenting their progress on video and can only say to the doubters and deniers that this tech is here, it's cheap, it works and it's a big part of the solution.
