Because the cells that generate growth hormone are in the very front of the pituitary, they are often the ones that are injured when the forces of the impact are transferred through the sphenoid bone (below is a screen capture of that part of the animation). As shown below, there is essentially no space between the sphenoid bone and the anterior pituitary so forces from frontal impacts are transferred directly to the anterior pituitary.
