Ecology of Worries is a short animation featuring a landscape of hand drawn critters who take turns sharing worries. The worries that they are speaking were produced using machine learning models (Artificial Intelligence). This first iteration of Ecology of Worries was projection mapped across four columns in downtown Boston as part of Illuminus. A summary video can be viewed here:
The emotionalization of events by the media is engendering worries that swirl inside us, trapping us in manufactured anxieties. We have been asking people in our communities what they are worried about and find they have a plethora of concerns at the ready. We used our database of over 1000 recorded worries, TextGenRNN and GPT-2 to train these critters to worry. Could they worry for us or perhaps inspire us to share our anxieties more openly?
