The Victorian Yard Utility Farm Dog Association sheep dog trial action at the East Gippsland Field Days was excellent for spectators, with many people enjoying the skills of the dogs and handlers on display.
One competitor was Andrew Whelan, Whelan’s Run Kelpies, Tambo Upper who had four dogs competing, Banjo having his last hurrah at trialling while another, Bessie, 18 months, was at her very first sheep trial and still learning the ropes.
Andrew said his dog Victor picked up a first in the improver trial, while Bessie ran second in the maiden and third in the improver.
