무언가를 미친듯이 사랑하고 갈구하는 순간, 죽음은 두렵지 않다.

70년대부터, 일본에선 경제가 어느 정도 안정된 후, 자동차 경주와 튜닝 문화가 발달하기 시작하였다. 젊은이들은 자동차들을 쉽게 접할 수 있게 되었고, 전국적으로 다양한 형태로 자동차 문화를 즐기는 사람들이 늘어났다. 전후 국가에 대한 책임의 기대로 인한 스트레스를 받고 있는 젊은 세대들은, 자유와 쾌락에 대한 갈망을 자동차 문화로 승화시키기도 하였는데, 이로 인해 발생되는 교통사고들과 사회 혼란은 사회에게 부정적인 반문화로 비춰지고 있다.

지루한 일상에서 벗어나 고속주행을 통해 쾌락과 자유를 느끼는 주인공은 사고, 죽음 등 자신을 쾌락으로부터 구속시키는 요소들을 모두 배재한 상태로 과격한 질주를 결심한다. 그러나 현세의 문화와 기술을 빌려 쾌락을 추구하는 주인공은 쾌락의 블랙홀 앞에 모든 것을 바쳐야 했다. 주인공은 사고를 통해 현세의 육체를 포기하고, 쾌락의 세계와 현세를 동시에 살던 인생을 정리하고 영원히 쾌락세계에 갇히게 된다. 심장이 미친듯이 뛰는 순간에 영원히 남게 된 것이다.

제목인 ドラッグ는 드래그 레이싱을 일본어 가타카나로 표기한 것이기도 하지만, 동시에 일본어로 Drug를 뜻하기도 하다.

From the 70's, after the economy stabilized in Japan to some extent, auto racing and tuning culture began to develop. Young people can easily access cars, and more and more people enjoy car culture in various forms nationwide. Young generations, who are under stress due to the expectation of responsibility for the post-war state, have also sublimated their longing for freedom and pleasure into automobile culture, and the resulting traffic accidents and social turmoil are seen as a negative counterculture to society.

The protagonist, who turns away from the world between pleasure and rebellion, feels pleasure and freedom through high-speed driving away from the boring daily life, decides to run radically, excluding all elements that restrain him from pleasure, such as accidents and death. However, the protagonist, who pursued pleasure by borrowing the current culture and technology, had to devote everything in front of the black hole of pleasure. He gets trapped, and the moment the heart beats like crazy remains forever.

Not only specifically for the Japanese illegal racing scene but also for other extreme counter-cultures, they imply the controversy between pursuing the infinite freedom or the responsibility to the society. However, this animation portrays the bittersweet end of extreme pleasure pursuer by caging him into the unescapable "the world of pleasure".

The title, ドラッグ(Duraggu), refers to "drag" racing in Japanese katakana, but it also means "drugs" in Japanese.
