Mara Hilerio is just one of approximately 640,000 DACA recipients. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals was signed in to law in June of 2012 and offers protections from deportation to children who were brought to the US illegally. In June of 2020, the Supreme Court ruled against the Trump Administrations attempt to rescind DACA. She explains in her own words, the uphill battle that life in the US presents for children who grew up under these uncertain circumstances.
This short video is just a preview to a larger story about Mara and the struggle of DACA recipients as frontline workers.
