Documentation of my solo exhibition "Hunting Self" for the +15 Soundscape at the Arts Commons, 2019.

Hunting Self is a 15-channel sound installation that was designed specifically for the Arts Commons +15 Soundscape, multichannel sound system. The piece was recorded live and in one take using smartphone technology. The sound quality reflects the desired immediacy of the performance as well as evoking a dream-like aesthetic through its lo-fi properties. The composition consists of improvised, processed, and looping vocal melodies threaded together with environmental snippets from rural landscapes. The sounds weave, layer, stretch and mesh together conscious and unconscious moments in time.

The piece highlights how systems are everywhere, part of the air we breathe, part of our bodies, and our urban and wild cultural ecologies. Through the layering of multiple sound compositions, the fluidity of the common areas then become condensed spaces where the audience, the installation, and their movement bypass clear meaning.
