This performance serves as a visual study on how we relate and perceive other people- not as individuals, but as ideas we project onto other human bodies. I question the social frameworks of intimacy, indifference, and fear, and subsequently question how we connect with people in the first place. The line separating each body blurs: are these projections how we choose to define others or how we choose to define ourselves?
I constructed and sewed the doll, Neon, which stands for Non-Existent, Object Nothing. Neon represents both a source of comfort and dehumanization, being both a plush doll and a identity-less being. They serve as a canvas for the varying ideas that I project onto them throughout the performance.
