HONEYBEES, THE WISDOM OF CROWDS + COLLECTIVE BEHAVIOR

a lecture-performance project in progress exploring the evolution of language, behavioral sciences, media manipulation and mental conditioning

This project is based on my observations and coping mechanisms while experiencing reverse culture shock. I started this project in 2016 with roughly 40 questions to explore and research. These questions are connected to social behavioral sciences:

How do honeybees avoid defective social processes that can lead to problematic herd behavior?
Is herding always problematic, as is implied by some popular images such as mass hysterias, mobs, panics, fads, economic bubbles, and group-think?
What about “the wisdom of crowds,” a contrasting image of collective behavior, popularized by James Surowiecki?
