Join Jesus as he imparts the Great Commission to his disciples and ascends to heaven. Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:1-11

Memory Verse: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20

Family Reflection and Response Ideas:
• Re-enact the stories with family members, stuffed animals, dolls, or action figures.
• Using art, whether drawing, clay or paint, to respond to or retell the story. Clay hearts, practicing handwriting or lettering while writing out the memory verse.
•Review the Greatest Commandment from last week.
• Learn the Great Commission as a family.
• Look at clouds and imagine being at Jesus' ascension and what it will be like at His return.
• Wonder what it was like to see Jesus ascend to heaven?
• Wonder how the disciples went out to make disciples? Discuss how we can do that in our lives.
• Remember the portion of the Nicene Creed (and hand motions) from these past weeks. "For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures." Add the next line: He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father."
• This is the last week of Eastertide! Continue to make joyful noise unto the Lord with musical instruments, pots and pans, or keys as you sing and shout ALLELUIA, The Lord has risen indeed! Sing "Allelu, Allelu, Alleluia, Praise ye the Lord."
