CONVERSATIONS, is a two-hour documentary about African Americans' struggle for liberation against American imperialism in the United States in the 20 and 21st centuries. Sparked by a desire to improve the material conditions of African Americans in the United States we will hear first-hand accounts from compelling activists, foot soldiers, scholars, writers, and thinkers of black resistance and community building movements.

The Black Radical Tradition at its core is a brushback or outright rejection of colonialism both domestically and foreign by Black people. The Black Radical Tradition ideology ranges from Pan Africanism to Marxism, was characterized by sharp opposition to institutionalism racism, women’s oppression, and class inequality, is rooted in anti-imperialism, and seeks to put an end to police brutality.

The film’s narrative unfolds through four chapters: (1) Black Power: The Revolutionary Answer to The Negro Problem in The United States of America, (2) Revolutionary Review: Profiles of Radical Courage (3) Framed in America: The Making of a Political Prisoner (4) Message to The Grassroots. We hear from Black Radicals, connected by their resistance to racism, share their personal stories about their time in the freedom movement, speaking passionately about their desire to contribute to change, heartbreak and fear, triumph and hope. CONVERSATIONS concludes by offering the tradition of black resistance as a model to continue the African American fight for freedom in the modern-day United States.
