Challenges as big as the pandemic cannot be solved by any one individual leader. With Panama having one of the longest lockdowns early on in the pandemic, one of the highest #COVID19 case rates in 2020, and limited resources, the country was at capacity in dealing with the pandemic.
Meeting the urgency of the moment, Ana María Vallarino, Miky Fabrega, Ana Lucrecia Tovar De Zarak, and 10 other Central America Leadership Initiative Fellows came together to create #TODOPANAMA: a civic, cross-sector movement that filled the gaps in the government's response through a public awareness campaign on stopping community contagion and economic recovery support.
Since its launch, #TODOPANAMA served more than 1,700 Covid-positive patients, supporting their families with food and basic supplies, distributed 500,000 masks and face shields nationwide, and raised $3.3+ million dollars for public health awareness.
#TODOPANAMA's impact is a testament to the power of collective leadership.
