Part choreography, part video, CallMeByBlondie is a project I had the pleasure to make with performance artist @mattricule in December 2020.

It was shown on the big screen of the Congress Center Basel alongside video works of 12 other artists as part of @videocity_bs ’s project ‘’Loneliness II’’
from 3.5.21-30.6.21  

« Similarly to Drag, which allows the artist to thwart and deconstruct the rules which condition our identities, the character evokes notions of customary practices through purely physical aspects of appearance and movement.
This suit is too big for the person who is wearing it – because of its size, but also because of its symbolic power. The garment locks us up in a situation that escapes us. The banks of Geneva speculate while our character drags an invisible telephone in his hand. Symbolically Matthieu puts himself in a place where he does not want to be, and he makes this clear to us. »
