I love the versatility that the Cadillac/trapeze table offers & one of them is the simple roll back bar. The variety of repertoire of exercises that can be adjustable for individual clients needs.
I often use it at the start of the session to see how the client is moving that day or as the final sequence to reinforce or consolidate the work we have done in their session.
It is a great way to help a client ‘feel’ the desired movement & help the teacher view & correct any imbalances in the body. I love that it offers assistance with the springs to clients when needed & gives the client the feedback & assistance to fully understand sequential movement. The position & the ‘grid’ of the table helps the teacher work with the client’s strengths & weakness.
The basic roll back is a fundamental exercise in Pilates & incorporates so much for the client to gets their heads around; shoulder stability, hip mobility, spinal mobility, the relations of the shoulders in spinal mobility, sequential movement .. and that is just one exercise… there is a whole lot going on.
As a lot of my clients only come once a week, I feel their time is precious & I want them to ‘experience’ & move as much as they can in the hour, I basically hate losing the flow of a class by adjusting springs etc.. so I try to offer as many variations with the roll back bar to keep the client moving as much as I can, using one piece of equipment.
