BuyBust is a social commentary that visualizes parts of the macabre war on drugs. It shows how the war turns everyone into monsters, even its victims. The surprise in the movie isn't the revelation of the war's true nature, but rather the visualizations of the unspeakable horror that unknowingly occurs around us. Although a tried and tested formula seems to have been utilized, the film is able to turn it into something more horrible and grotesque because it hits unbelievably and uncomfortably close to home.
