This one and a half year project started with the concept of the past. Creating a series of works, large scale paintings and video work (created by Djago member Jono).
Made at a time in which all the members were trying
to find themselves, the pieces took on a transient
meaning. The meaning caught in a fleeting moment
that we no longer connect to anymore. Exploring a
sense of past and present emotions and how time can
distort this.
After development and research we created 3 lidded
vases/urns in which we have stored the burned ashes
of the paintings we made in the past. Each one of
these have been modelled and hand painted depicting
3 moments; movement, religion and blues.
The end result is 3 moments in time, burning away
the past but keeping them as physical reminders of
who and what they have made us.
