The fundamental question for me lies in this problem of the materiality of digital images : technological changes have eliminated this materiality. Henceforth, images are the product of digital, elusive, chimerical data. This raises the question of the origin of the object, its source. If it is intangible, how do we know where it is ? Where is the "élément matriciel" - the origin ? And yet digital data is very real ; it has an influence on the rationality of actions : it acts and creates phenomena. The Bobybox represents the desire to give my videographic work an anchor into reality; to reify, to give a body - to embody in a space - the digital image in movement. It is a wooden box in front of which 2 square cut-out windows show two screens. On the screens, two videos run on top of each other simultaneously and randomly. The work can be seen from a distance, in its totality. But closer, you engage with only one image or the other. As with a painting or a photograph, the viewer can look at the piece from close or from afar in daylight, and establish a dialogue with other artworks.
