This is the first in a series of filmmaking exercises I will be running in my downtime. The aim is to refine my skills as a filmmaker by searching for new and creative ways to express the world around me.

For this particular piece, I followed my local gym members as they ran the sand dunes of Bethells Beach. I wanted to try and capture the struggle of climbing the steep banks and show the determination of the members. The theme I wanted to capture was a fight between the dunes and the people trying to conquer them. I wanted it to be more of a cinematic moment than a highlight video.

Logistically I had a camera, two lenses, a Mavic Pro Zoom with two hours to capture everything without the luxury of being able to control the action. Essentially I was a fly on the wall and wanted to see if it was possible to capture what I needed with minimal gear, covering a large distance, all within a two-hour time frame.

Plenty of challenges faced while shooting this one!
