There are allusions here to late 1920s and early 30s montage films generically called “City Symphonies” in the way the source material is presented. Snatches of an unlabelled children's film about life in the city are repurposed and I am hardly a flaneur, so my project was pieced together in a studio environment from this archival material commonly described as found footage.

The 16mm projection manipulations presented here were done live in studio and recorded on digital video, really event based like another tradition, Expanded Cinema. My creative engagement with collecting and cinephilia infuse this work, "auras ≈ actualities" with notions of urban life, movement and formal arrangements.
