A 16 second clip from an durational performance presented in Alexandro Segade's Time Based class at Hunter MFA in the spring of 2018.
Utilizing the balance board, my daily ritual object to regain strength in my legs after a bike accident where I was struck by a car and unable to walk for almost a year, I collaborated with composer Pat Spadine to make percussive sounds using a marble that moved on the surface of the board to hit bells surrounding the perimeter.
My performative works are informed by my accident, addressing the prosthetics and repetitive movement objects used to gain strength in order be able to walk again. I am interested in objects as extensions of the body, using form and labor to create endurance-based works that speak not only to the physicality, but also mental and spiritual states of being.
