A collaboration between Angel O'Leary, Lewis White, and Anna Rebecca Harris.
Developed as part of The Driven Arts Collective's "Khôra", ASMR features video of the creation of Angel O'Leary's political dripping drawings set to Lewis White's digital music.

The Driven Arts Collective in Khôra

“Khôra” is a multimedia dance performance that highlights the psychological conflict of remaining present in both the physical and digital worlds at once. Drawing on the the Platonic idea of a space that lies “between the sensible and the intelligible, through which everything passes but in which nothing is retained,” Khôra is a comment on the present moment in digital history, wherein the difference between access to information and sensory overwhelm is sometimes negligible, and actively negotiated. Utilizing haptic sensor technology to translate movement into sound, and live dance into digital avatars, vignettes focus on themes of human and technological connection and interruption, the ways in which technology limits and expands physical movement, the viral nature of miscellaneous internet content, and the omniscience and gender-politics of digital assistants.

The Driven Arts Collective is an international group of dancers, artists, software engineers and musicians that emerged in the context of this project under the direction of Anna Rebecca Harris, to give multiple voices a platform to describe the reality bubbles they perceive themselves to inhabit. Choreographer / Dancers Sawako Gannon, Jen Gerry, Varsha Iyengar, Divya Anantsri, Kiran Rajagopalan, Nekai Abriol, and Lauren Bedal bring to life the scores of harpist Michael Maganuco, bollywood vocalist Courtney Kain, and digital musicians Michael Krzyzaniak, Alex Cohen, Kyle Gannon, Sawako Gannon, William Morris, and Lewis White. With the help of digital archivist Shaun Gaynor and the software engineering talents of Travis Bennett, Charlie Eddy, Devin Brady, Michael Krzyzaniak, Varsha Iyengar and Weidong Yang, this event promises serious contemplation, epic GPS inspired video art by Kevin Mcgloughlin, as well as comedic relief by Rebecca Senn, and a new genre of ASMR for angry people featuring Angel O’Leary’s political dripping portraits. “Neurosongs” derived from data capture of electrical brainwave activity provided by Paul Senn and live musical performances by SIR CLINT (Clinton Agude) and Barret Wall augment this IRL sensory experience you can’t get from VR goggles...yet.
