For my final project in DTC 101, I chose to create an animation using the skills I learned this semester in DTC 201. I picked the reading, Revolution: LGBT Identity and Activism. In the story portrayed, much like the chapter, the individual in the animation feels lost and upset at his life at home and at school. Because of this, he enters a different world where his persona changes into someone he feels more powerful as. This world is themed as a video game placed in social media. In this game, he attacks monsters representing issues in society: active hate groups, and direct bullying. Because of his altered avatar he has the power to defend people and issues he feels strongly about.

In this piece, I’ve drawn all the content you see with illustrator. I placed the separate layers into After Effects there I timed their movements and duration. The creative commons music was edited through Audition so it was the desired length I needed to portray the storyline. The different monster in the story is designed after Instagram, where the second was designed after Snapchat. I wanted to represent Facebook in the story, so I place the Marketplace house in the background on the virtual world.
