This is my first ever project I worked on as animator and I'm very grateful to A$AP Rocky & A$AP Yams for giving me this opportunity.
They actually reached me out here on vimeo when I only had couple animation tests uploaded back in 2014. Yams even created Vimeo account (lil newport) just to write me a message.
We connected later next year with Rocky, when unfortunately Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez passed away. (I animated his birthmark on Rocky's face that later transformed into butterfly simbolising his spirit)
It took 9 months from the moment we spoke till the release in Jan 2016, 4 months of them I'v spent at home working on this project dealing with artistic and technical difficulties that I never faced before. Next few months took editing different notes from Rocky.
Animation style I implemented here is influenced by my parents (both of them are Kazakhstani artists and have traditional painting background).
I decided to upload this music video to vimeo where it all started for me. Thank you vimeo for giving artists and creative minds all over the world opportunities to express their vision and connect with each other!
